The Show (Made From Scratch)

I almost don't know where to start... This was the first time I've ever participated in an all-original show, and it was... amazing. On that stage, we were more than performers: we were artists. Creative artists. The music, the scenes, the play, the poetry... The lighting! (Gotta love the lighting... *grins*)

For those of you who didn't make it out to see The Show, don't worry, we'll reprise this thing next year. Between times, we'll probably do a sort of Coffee House-ish show that doesn't have to be all original work. That will open the stage to a lot more performers, but I truly feel it's important to reserve at least one show a year for the artists/performers.

Oh, and we made money. We put almost NO money into this gig, and walked away with a couple-hundred dollars. Heh. It was beautiful. It's all for the Guild, baby.

So... any questions?

From "So Unsexy," Alanis Morissette

I can feel so unsexy for someone so beautiful
So unloved and for someone so fine
I can feel so boring for someone so interesting
So ignorant for someone of sound mind

Oh these little protections how they fail to serve me
One forgotten phone call and I'm deflated and
Oh these little defenses how they fail to comfort me
Your hand pulling away and I'm devastated

Learning to Drive

Thus it begins. At five o'clock, they're coming to pick me up. I'm going to drive the highways for the first time.

Lest any of my loyal readers become confused about my age, I'm still nineteen... I'm just a nineteen who never learned to drive, is all. For one reason or another (read: I was afraid to drive), it just never worked out. Now, though, it's time, and I'm all ready and excited. Yay. It should be a lot of fun. Everyone stay off the roads and out of my way, and we'll all be jus' fine.

Early Morning Phone Call

My cell went off in the middle of the night last night, and without even considering WHY someone might be waking me from a dead sleep, I reached over and turned the thing off. A few minutes later, my house phone rang, and I broke into a sweat immediately. Not a whole lot of people have my house phone number. I'm rarely home, after all. I don't even have a house phone in my room. Anyway, my aunt answered the phone, and I half-heard her talking, then she called for me. "One of your friends has gone suicidal. You need to get to a phone." I went into the living room and answered the phone, and one of my friends was on the phone, nearly in tears, terrified... he was talking to a dear friend of mine online, had discovered this friend was suicidal, and didn't know what to do. He called me. He wanted me to talk to my other friend... But I know I'm nowhere near good enough to help someone who's suicidal, especially one who might very well be high or drunk or what have you. I gave my friend the suicide hotline number, and then after some prayer and some silent rants, I fell asleep. Now I'm waiting to hear from someone... And I wish, again, that I were a healer.

Breaking the Silence

Sorry for the long abandonment of this little thing. I haven't been online at all. I worked my first forty-hour week, I auditioned for a show, I co-hosted auditions for OUR show, I went to Oregon by way of Redding, I severely sprained my finger (it's only now well enough that I can type, and I admit--this is hurting quite a bit)....
So I've been busy. I've barely been home, and when I'm here, I desperately need to sleep. Rest assured... I'm happy, life's good, I'm busy. Call me if you want.
