Fire and Ice
On a hilltop overlooking the ruins of the darkest city on earth or elsewhereThe queen of ice danced with the king of fire
They spun, hands and arms entwined
Eyes steadily locked
Tongues of flame ate away at snowflakes
And were extinguished a second later by waterdrops
Tears falling from the queen's eyes
Flame and frost would not let each other go
They were too entranced
They wanted to understand
Wanted to feel their opposite
Wanted to understand the enemy
Wanted to embrace what was alien
So slowly she melted
And slowly he died out
And on the hilltop overlooking the ruins of the darkest city
Flame and frost stared at each other
Flame was still smoldering, but he held snow in his hands
Frost's cold eyes were burning with fire
They laughed
Realized they were made from the same element
And they danced, overlooking the darkest city
